Travels Past: Portugal

Hello Y’all! Happy Monday! I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! We are back at it with the third and final post for this Travels Past Series. You can check out the first post here and the second post here.

On to Portugal…

I arrived in Lisbon (Lisboa) after taking the bus from Sevilla. By this time in the trip I was a tad bit drained, emotionally and physically. So, I spent the majority of my first full day in Lisbon in my hostel bed. I honestly probably would have spent my first two days in my bed had I not been meeting up with Paulina, who my sister and I met from a previous trip to Columbia.

Although, Paulina was only spending the summer working in Portugal she was such an incredible host. I don’t really have a story to tell with this post because the entire lesson was a collection of experiences that would make for a super long post. I’ll just say that through Paulina and her friends I was reminded of the importance of loving and caring for others. I was really impressed with how mindful they were. Whether it was through making sure I got to my hostel safely, taking me on a surfing trip, or touring the city and having dinner with me after a long day of work the mindfulness displayed will never be forgotten.

Their care and mindfulness was so imprinted on my mind that I was inspired to make sure I did a better job at it. It’s so easy for us to be consumed in our own personal interest but a major part of being a follower of Christ means that we take the time to look out for the interest of others. Meaning we care for them, we are mindful of them, and we love them as we have been called to.

Philippians 2:4

Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

Thank you so very much for traveling with me through this trip taken 3 years ago. I wish everyone the best in their future travels and remember to always go with God. He’s got you! ❤️
