Hello y’all and Happy Monday. Welcome to Part II of the Whitewashing Series. You can find Part I here. In this post we will focus on the foundation of whitewashing. So let’s get to it…
The Foundation of Whitewashing
There are two types of spirits that dwell in this earth. The Holy Spirit as light and evil spirits represented as darkness. Those spirits that dwell in darkness make themselves available and convincing to us through the art of whitewashing. Satan and his purpose are at the foundation of this whitewashing.
Since being cast to earth Satan’s mission has been to make our destiny the same as his. The details of his destiny can be found in Revelation 20.
Revelation 20:10
10 Then the devil, who had deceived them, was thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur, joining the beast and the false prophet. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
What I find interesting about the fulfilling of his purpose is that his plan of attack remains consistent. As the “father of all lies,” (John 8:44) he simply lies. That is how he goes through the earth carrying out his mission. The carefulness, is in knowing that his lies are subtle, crafty, and filled with deceit. Simply put, his lies are whitewash. They are filled with elements of God’s word with the intention to hide God’s truth and cause us to go against what God has already commanded. Thus, leading us to the broad and wide path that leads to destruction. We must also know that he waste no time. He is and has always been diligent about his work because he knows that his time is limited.
Revelation 12:12
12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens
and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea,
because the devil has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury,
I think some of the greatest examples of Satan’s whitewashing work can be seen with Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-6) and with Jesus in the Wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11). Although the results were, of course, different for these two scenarios; In both of these situations you see the devil make the most of his time. He quickly uses deceit in efforts to convince the victim of the opposite of what God has said. If convinced, an opportunity for error is opened and he further manipulates the victim into taking it. Also, in both of these situations we see that he uses God’s exact words to manipulate them. Lastly, we understand through the example with Christ, there is only one way to overcome the devils tactics. Come on Holy Spirit! Come on Jesus! If the devil tempted Christ you better believe there is some whitewash coming in each of our directions.
1 Peter 5:8
8 …Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Next week we will discuss in detail some of the many ways God’s word, the truth, is being whitewashed.

Courtney
